Happy Belated Birthday to Rihanna. Lately I have been loving the dresses she has been rocking. Check em out!! They both remind me of Michelle Pfiefer in Scarface. Especially the second one. It’s the hairstyle and plunging neckline!!

Movie Reviews August 31, 2011

It’s been a minute since I have reviewed a movie but I must say these two movies need them. Up first for review is Hall Pass staring Owen Wilson. I rented this over the weekend. I knew it was rated R so I thought well can’t be that bad I may let me daughter watch it. Well I am GLAD that I didn’t! I tell you rated R’s just aren’t what they used to be. They are practically soft porn. LMAO. So if you have children under the age of 17 they should not view this movie due to the showing of breast and penis! Here is the plot taken from Moviefone.

This buddy comedy from the Farrelly brothers stars Jason Sudeikis and Owen Wilson as a couple of married guys who persuade their wives to give them the ultimate “get out of jail free” card: a marriage “hall pass.” The agreement gives them free reign to behave like bachelors — free from the rules and confines of fidelity, responsibility, and married life — for one week. But soon the guys find that the small town where everybody knows them — and their wives — isn’t very conducive to chasing tail. And making matters worse, it turns out to be harder than they thought to accept the idea of their wives (Jenna Fischer and Christina Applegate) taking off for vacation on a hall pass of their own.

Yesterday, being that Tuesday is the day for new DVD release’s I decided to reserve online Madea’s Big Happy Family at my local Redbox. I have mixed feelings about this movie. To begin this movie had horrible acting! Movie stars Loretta Devine, Bow Wow, Lauren London, Teyana Taylor and some of the regulars from Tyler Perry films. As much as I am a fan of Teyana Taylor her role got on my last nerve! Geez! Here’s the plot.

Adapted from the multi-talented playwright/filmmaker’s hit stage play of the same name, Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family finds the cantankerous family matriarch using her unique brand of tough love to help her family weather some particularly rough waters. Madea’s niece Shirley has received a frightening medical diagnosis, and she’s having a hard time figuring out how to break the news to the rest of the family. Unfortunately she’s not the only one in the midst of a crisis, either: Kimberly is suffering from anger issues that are threatening to destroy her marriage; Tammy’s marital problems are being compounded by her disobedient children; and Byron is struggling to stay out of the drug trade after spending two years behind bars. Later, as a skeleton in the family closet pops into the picture, Madea and Aunt Bam show that love and laugher can help to overcome even the biggest obstacles.

In all I think I will need to view both movies again both had their flaws and I’d give them a C! Check them out at your local Redbox for only $1 a night with blu-rays at $1.50.

Jason Momoa August 15, 2011

Now I have seen this fine speciman from time to time in ads and on TV but hadn’t really paid to much attention until his newest project. Jason Momoa, who is playing Conan in Conan the Barbarian. I’d seen the commercials but never put it together it was him because he has packed on so much weight. Check out the brief bio taken from www.imdb.com .

Born Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 1st, 1979, Jason was raised in Norwalk, Iowa by his mother. After high school, he moved to Hawaii where he landed a lead role out of thousands of hopefuls in the TV series, “Baywatch” (1989) (known as “Baywatch Hawaii” in its tenth season). When the show ended, he spent the next couple of years traveling around the world. In 2001, he moved to Los Angeles where he continued to pursue an acting career.

In 2004, after the short-lived TV series “North Shore” (2004), he was cast as the popular character “Ronon Dex” in the TV series “Stargate: Atlantis” (2004), which achieved a cult-like following. In 2010, he appeared in the Emmy-nominated HBO series “Game of Thrones” (2011) playing the Dothraki King, “Khal Drogo”. To illustrate to the producers he was Khal Drogo, he performed the Haka, a traditional war dance of the Maori of New Zealand. The audition was with the same casting director who was casting the titular role in the reboot of Conan the Barbarian (2011). Four weeks after he was cast as the popular Robert E. Howard character, he began shooting in Bulgaria. His approach, like the filmmakers, was to pull from the eight decades of comics and stories as well as the Frank Frazetta images rather than the hugely popular 1982 movie.

Jason has a production company, “Pride of Gypsies”, in which he is expanding his career from actor to filmmaker. He has directed a couple of short films and is working on his feature film debut “Road to Paloma” which is pulled from a series of stories he’s been developing over the years which he calls the Brown Bag Diaries: Ridin’ the Blinds in B Minor (2010).

Jason lives with actress Lisa Bonet with whom he has two children: Lola and Nakoa-Wolf.

Devil Movie Reveiw June 13, 2011

Over the weekend I rented Devil from my local Redbox. I remember when this movie was released last year that I wanted to see it but never made it to the theater. The moral of this story was very good. My opinion the story is a real lesson in karma. “What goes around come right back around”

The synopsis of the movie: Trapped in an elevator high above Philadelphia, five people discover that the Devil is among them – and no one can escape their fate. This chilling, supernatural thriller from producer M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs) will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way to a heart-stopping ending with a truly wicked twist.

The cast of this movie stars Bokeem Woodbine, Chris Messina, Logan Marshall-Green, Geoffrey Arend, and Bojana Novakovic.  Go to www.universalpictures.com/devil to see more on the movie.

This movie is a must see. Warning 90% of the movie does take place in an elevator but the story line is really good.

OMG it’s Monday again!! Not the best day of the week. Those 2 days off go by so darn fast by the time you’ve rested up from the work week it’s time to hit that weekly grind again. I hope people had a blessed weekend and made it thru the storms that we had over the weekend. I thank God that my lights didn’t go out and nothing was destroyed.  I pray for those that lost homes or cars even loved ones in this storm.

This weekend I watched alot of movies.  I rented two movies from Redbox, Due Date and My Soul to Take. Due Date was very disappointing!!! I was not impressed and now I’m starting to think that I may not even enjoy the Hangover 2. I just didn’t find it funny at all! Now My Soul to Take was on point. At one point it seemed that scary movies weren’t even scary anymore but I have to say the suspense in this movie got me. I loved the ending because I really wasn’t expecting it. Check out www.imdb.com if you’d like to find out more about these movies or rent them from your local Redbox. www.redbox.com

I also got to finally catch some of Ninja Assasin I have to say this was a pretty good movie. It was alot of blood and gore but I guess that goes with the movie. This movie is a must see. Sorry it took me so long to finally see it.

Other than movies I caught up on some shows I had recorded on the dvr and been getting back to my 90’s and early 2000 rap. Pandora  radio has been taking me back into time and I love it. I’m so sick of hearing this bullshit on the radio thats out now. It’s amazing to see how times have changed with music. What happen to good ole Mobb Deep, N.O.R.E, and CNN. Oh man I’m turning into an ole head. Only difference from me and my parents generation is I’m not talking about Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. LMAO!!!! Wow!!!

Well I’m get back to grind! Everybody have a blessed Monday!!!

Word around the internet is that the Father of Hip Hop Kool Herc has been hospitalized with an unknown medical condition. According to sources his health is getting worse due to not having health insurance. DJ Premier made an announcement on Sirius XM radio that he was hospitalized and in need of money for care. You can get the donation information from Premier’s website. http://www.djpremierblog.com/ Payments can be made via paypal.

Kool Herc aka Clive Campbell Jamaican immigrant from the Bronx, NY is credited for originating hip hop music. Using the two turntable set-up of the disco DJs, Campbell’s style led to the use of two copies of the same record to elongate the break. This breakbeat DJing, using hard funk, rock, and records with Latin percussion, formed the basis of hip hop music. Campbell’s announcements and exhortations to dancers helped lead to the syncopated, rhymed spoken accompaniment now known as rapping. He called his dancers “break-boys” and “break-girls”, or simply b-boys and b-girls.(wikipedia)

Say a prayer for Kool Herc and keep him in your thoughts. Without him paving the way there would be no Kanye West,  Nas, Jay-Z or Swizz Beats!

For a little time travel back to his days check out movies, Breaking 1 and 2, Krush Groove, and Wild Style!
